TODAY IS:

Forest Row, sponsored by Flora Pro Activ, entertained Burgess Hill in their latest league encounter. Row won the toss and surprisingly elected to field on a belter of a wicket. Neil Divall and James Holland opened for Row. Colley & John (0) were able to keep Row at bay when on 35, the pair took on Britt and his throw to Holland resulted in Johns’ run out. Holland then trapped Colley LBW – no shot offered, who made his displeasure of the verdict clear to the umpire. Kevern joined Colley, blending fine shots with good fortune to add 107, when Paul Rowe trapped Colley LBW for a nifty 93. Murray Divall was finally rewarded for his efforts, having Kevern caught by Way. Rowe & Holland castled Woods (14) & Barnes (10) as Hill declared – on what they believed was an impregnable 235-6.

In reply, Row opened with Britt & Paul Rowe – with clear instructions to get to 50 in the 1st 10 overs. Against some inept bowling, the pair added 74 in 8 overs, when Britt (28) was caught chasing a wide one. Rowe (34) soon followed, then Edwards (0). Sargent however, stopped the rot. In partnerships with N.Divall (14) & Hillen (37), Sargent thumped the bowling to all parts. Deserving a century, a miss-timed drive saw him caught for a match winning 97. Although Row lost Hillen & Holland (4), the result was never in doubt – Row winning with 12 overs to spare.
