TODAY IS:

Forest Row sponsored by Flora Pro activ, entertained Chailey who won the toss and elected to bowl on a wicket, which would give early assistance to the bowler. Wycherley (2) & Way (2) opened against the self proclaimed Best Bowler in the league. Heater and Harvey opened the bowling, who exploited the conditions with 2 wickets apiece – Row reeling at 17-4. With few opportunities of late the middle & lower order had to prove their metal. Woodward (18) & Farncombe (24) helped Row to 51, when Woodward was bowled by Heater. Britt’s entrance helped lift the tempo, and quickly exploited some ragged fielding. Adding 38 when farncombe was stumped off Johnson. Britt (27) fell on 102-7. Edwards joined Paul Rowe whom maintained and increased the tempo. Excellent running & pugnacious stroke play by Edwards, led to complaints, that Row had reversed the order. Edwards and Rowe added 75, when Edwards departed for a cracking 53. Rowe then took centre stage with assistance from father Phil (13) & M Divall (6*) raised his fifty as Row declared on 230-9.

The reply was patient as Chailey made little Headway against the Divall brothers. Turners 12 overs came to nothing as Paul Rowe had him plumb in front for a 0. N Divall castled Morey (20), Tilliard (0) then Collins (40) AT 90-4. Woodward trapped Andrews (20) as Chailey seemed determined to draw the match. Had Row taken their chances in the field a win could have been possible. Haylett (49) benefiting from a straightforward chance to the keeper going down. Though Edwards near the end bowled him the opportunity was missed.

Forest Row 230-9 (45) Edwards 53, Rowe 50*, Britt 27, Heater 17-3-65-3, Harvey 9-1-25-3

Chailey 173-5 (43) Haylett 49, Collins 40 N Divall 19-10-38-3
