Forest Row IIs fought out a high scoring draw against Dormansland in a
Stoner League division 3 match on Saturday. Dormansland put into bat wasted little time in setting a challenging total, with openers Ian Jones (23) and Brandon Barnes (56) putting on a brisk 97, in just over an hour's play. They kept cool heads as they came to terms with unpredictable bounce, and were very quick to dispatch bad balls. Mike Keeler eventually broke the partnership bowling Jones, then shortly after, had
Barnes gloving a catch to Simon Trench. But that was the only reward for the Row bowlers as Warwick Barnes (52no) and Richard Sweet (63no) both settled in quickly, and played confidently. They built on the good start with a fine unbroken 3rd wicket stand of 114, seeing Dormansland through to tea on 223-2.

Simon Trench (103) then sent the hat-trick ball racing to the boundary, and with opener Jamie Brownlie (31) set about not only steadying the ship, but to set course for victory port. Trench carrying on his good form got quickly into his stride dispatching anything within hitting distance. At the
Other end Brownlie played an anchoring innings, seeing out the storm, staying put and working the ball around the park. Together they put on a valuable 112 for the fourth wicket. Brownlie was eventually caught, and two further quick wickets fell, Ian Jones picking up two wickets and Richard Sweet his first of the innings. Row required 57 runs off 8 overs when Rick Walsom (18no) joined Trench at the crease. Walsom quickly got into his stride with a series of straight and cover drives to the boundary. With Trench completing his century, well set in, 24 runs were added in a just 3 overs. Richard Sweet came back and claimed a second wicket bowling Trench. When Digby claimed a fourth wicket, with four overs to go, Dormansland needed 2
Wickets to win, while Row required 26 runs. Walsom and the tail ate up the remaining overs, and the match was drawn, with Row closing on 202-8.
