Forest Row, sponsored by Flora Pro Activ, entertained East Grinstead
4ths who won the toss and elected to bat, on a wicket, which offered
some assistance for the bowler. Paul Rowe and Murray Divall opened
for Row. Rowe made an early breakthrough, bowling Rolley (5).
Mooney (22) joined Cracknell (4), adding 30, when Rowe made a
double strike – bowling Mooney, then trapping C Duffy (0)
LBW 1st ball. EG4 then slumped further with Divall, continuing
in the same vein as last week, was finally rewarded with the LBW
of White (4) – who had survived an appeal for caught behind
and a dropped catch in the same over. Another two in two from
Rowe, bowling Cracknell (4) and A Duffy (0) was caught by Wycherley.
EG4 were on the ropes at 49-6. Rowe claiming his 1st five-for
this season. Snape gave EG4 some hope with some crisp driving.
He looked assured until Rowe got through to bowl him for an attractive
25. Cameos from Ross (18), Tarlino (11) and M Duffy (9*) helped
EG4 reach 123, as Jackson cleaned up the tail with 3-8 off 3.3
overs.
With plenty of time to chase down a moderate target. Wycherley
with Way set about the bowling with gusto – taking toll
of some loose offerings. Wycherley looked well set when on 33
he missed a straight one and was plumb LBW to Snape. Ross then
came into his own. With some accurate bowling, he induced some
poor shots when patience was required. 1st Barnett (2), Way (19)
then N.Divall (0) and Sargent (17). Farncombe (0) quickly followed
as Row wobbled on 94-6. Britt (19*) however found an able partner
in Sam Edwards (18*), whom with minimal fuss, guided Row to a
4 wicket win. Edwards finishing the match in style – with
a towering 6. Row victorious. Well before 20 overs had commenced.
