Forest Row, in partnership with Douch, entertained Edenbridge
– in their latest Div 1 clash. Bridge won the toss and inserted
Row – after a shower had greeted the teams arrival. Wycherley
and Way opened, with Wycherley quicker-ly out of the traps for
28. When Way (19) missed a full toss and N Divall was bowled by
a ‘Fuller’ length, Jackson was joined by debutant
– Dominic Osbourne. They built a stand of 68 against Fuller
and Cox, whom bowled the core of the bowling. Jackson, relishing
his promotion, took an increasing liking to the bowling –
dominating the 6th wicket stand of 38. Backed up by Paul Rowe
(8*), He guided Row to maximum batting points – with a superb
unbeaten 75.
Row got off the perfect start when N Divall had Woodman (0) snaffled
by Jackson, at slip. G Cox should have gone soon after though
was dropped by Wycherley. The miss proved to be costly as G Cox’s
slice of fortune became a cake – with the ball slicing off
every edge imaginable, as he rode his luck on a kicking horse.
M Divall trapped T Cox (38) LBW, though bridge were still well
on course for victory. Mike Keeler and Martin Britt’s entrance
into the attack, allowed Row to wrestle some control to the run
flow – witnessing G. Cox run out for a fortuitous 59. Britt
picked up the Slack (6) and Keeler castled Corder (6). N Divall
returned to have Mills (6) caught Way and a change of ended, spelt
the end for Williams (25) & Ward (4). Row ran out of overs
to secure a tightly contested match.
Scores: Forest Row 176-5 (47) Jackson 75*, Osbourne 29, Wycherley
28.
