Forest Row entertained Horsted Keynes on Sunday, in a friendly match, and
finally fell away to a 87 run defeat. Horsted Keynes batting first, got off to a brisk start with A Griffin (78no) and S. Fuller (45) picking off 65 runs in 17 overs. Phil Rowe finally ended the partnership by inducing Fuller into popping up a catch to a substitute fielder at midwicket. A steady 36 runs off 11 overs were then added between Griffin and R Fuller (24) before the introduction of youngster Lawrence Webb had Fuller caught by Phil Rowe, just reward for good bowling. Phil Rowe bowled J Emerson (0) in the following over, to reduce Keynes to 101-3. But Griffin and J. Fuller (48no) saw out the remaining time with a mix of good hard running and a good selection of shots. They took 57 runs from the final 6 overs of their innings to finish on 212-3 by tea. Phil Rowe was the most successful of the Row bowlers, with 2-49 off 11 overs, while youngster Lawrence Webb continued his promising form with the ball, always a handful to the batsman, and well deserving of his 1-15 off 7
overs.

Wickets fell regularly early on in Row's reply, Westmuckett (2) opening the
batting was bowled by J Powell after half an hour defiance, Steve White (8)
and Sam Jones (12) were out caught off the same bowler, after showing
promise, with some fine shots. And when opener Ed Stokes (13) was run out
just at the start of the last 20 overs, Row were at 43-4. Powell completed a five wicket haul having Paul Rowe caught by Griffin then taking a return catch of Rick Walsom. When soon after Murray Divall's (19) useful stay at the crease was ended by M Dollings having him caught by S. Fuller, Row were at 59-7. Phil Rowe (48no) then marshalled the tail well, with some good shots, and taking on the field with good running between the wickets. He had good support from Graham Rowe (10) and then from youngsters Shaun Mason (2) and Lawrence Webb (3). They took the score to a more respectable 125, and were five overs away from a draw. But Keynes weren't to be denied, and J. Powell claimed his 6th wicket when he ended Webb's half hour stay at the crease, with a ball that came back and hit middle and off stumps.
