Forest Row travelled to Lindfield on Sunday to play a strong Lindfield 1st team. Row won the toss and invited Lindfield to bat, on a slow wicket. Opening with Paul Rowe and Adam Webb, Row initially kept on top Chamberlin and the flashing blade of Baker. Baker managed to evade the field with edges dropping short or flying over the field. The pair gradually increased the tempo, realising a century stand in the process. Baker was eventually dismissed – bowled by Murray Divall for 71. Badon rode his luck superbly, having been dropped three times, as well as gaining the benefit of the doubt, before Paul Rowe caught him for 29 – off Jackson. Phil Rowe finally had Chamberlin (44) well caught by Stokes, though overseas player Elzie came in and blitzed the bowling in a whirl wind 62*. Cox (0) was the only wicket to go cheaply, bowled by Dave Webb, as Lindfield brought a halt to the run feast at 228-4.
The hiding continued with the batting, taken apart by Weir 2-10 and Hopkins 5-18. At 35-8, the rot was stopped for a time, thanks to Alan Westmucketts gritty 23 – ably supported by Ed stokes (2*). They put on 31, when Westmuckett fell and the innings was wrapped up 2 balls later, in a totally one-sided affair.
