Sally Miller Plate First Round Lindfield 158-7 Forest
Row 162-5
FOREST Row progressed through to the quarter-finals of the Sally
Miller Plate with a hard earned five wicket win over Lindfield
Swans in an entertaining cup tie.
Lindfield got off to a flying start with N Barker (37) and S Barker
(23) putting on 55, but Simon Trench finally broke the opening
partnership.
Wickets began to tumble as Lindfield found themselves at 88-4.
Marc Jordan was brought on to bowl the last eight over's and picked
up three wickets, including those of G Watson (21) and A Harding
(18) whose stand of 31 for the sixth wicket threatened to revive
the innings.
A late flurry of 14 runs saw Lindfield Swans close their innings
on 158-7 off 40 over's.
In reply, Rowe (13) and Neil Phillips (28) got Row off to an explosive
start, blasting 50 in just eight over's, before three wickets
fell to leave Row on 59-3.
Mick Humphrey (33no) and Pete Dawes (28) regained control for
Row with a brisk 39-run partnership, broken by superb fielding
which saw Dawes run out by a direct hit from third man.
Row were on 101-5 off 21 over's, but a well-measured innings from
Mick Humphrey and a pugnacious knock (28no) from Simon Trench
in an unbeaten sixth wicket stand of 61 off nine over's eased
Row home to victory.
