Forest Row IIs entertained Lingfield IIs in division 3 of the Stoner League
On Saturday, and eventually fell away to a four wicket defeat with just 6
Overs of the match to go. Row, asked to bat, made a slow start against tight bowling, Graham Rowe (20) and Mick Humphrey (18) being the only batsmen in the top order to make double figures. After 32 overs Row were on 73 - 6, Les Morton taking three
Wickets. A rapid knock from Glen Taylor (34) and aggressive strokes from Mike Gaunt (16) in a fine partnership of 32, then a further 26 between Taylor and Rick
Walsom (12) looked to turn things around for Row. But Lingfield came back again to mop up the last wickets to dismiss Row for 144. Les Morton was the chief wicket taker for Lingfield with 4 - 49 off 8 overs, while all the other bowlers were very economical barely going for two an over.

In reply, Lingfield stumbled early on, as Simon Trench struck with 2 wickets
In his first three overs, having Robert Mitchell (0) caught by Sam Jones,
Then Andy Gradon (14) caught behind just as he was looking set. A much needed partnership of 52 for the third wicket between Michael Gradon (90no) and Mark Lloyd (14) looked to put them back on course. But when Trench bowled Lloyd, followed by two wickets for Jamie Brownlie, Lingfield was reduced to 78 - 5, and only 15 overs of the match remaining. However the set Gradon with skipper Les Morton (11) added a further 48, taking Lingfield to within 19 runs of victory, before Sam Jones pulled off an athletic caught and bowled, to set up a tense finish. Gradon carried his bat, and with Simon Fitzpatrick (6no) worked off the required runs for victory, with four overs to spare.
