Forest Row, in partnership with Douche, entertained Mayfield.
After a very brief shower, Row won the toss and elected to bowl.
The decision, which was immediately rewarded after a quick field
change, Britt going to silly mid on & taking an easy catch
off Murray Divall to dismiss Bransby (0). That proved to be the
only success of the innings, as other catches were spilled and
decisions going against. Sambrook and Robertson in particular
asserted their authority. Robertson the more assured was first
to reach three figures. Sambrook just made before tea, as Mayfield
compiled a monumental 242-1. Robertson 121, Sambrook 102 –
both unbeaten.
In reply, Mayfield’s attack exploited the now marked and
dry wickets, Hancock having Rowe (1) caught, miss timing a drive.
Dee (14) was brilliantly run out, with Britt holding on at the
other end. Neil Divall (6), then Gaunt (12) came and went. Crucially,
when Britt (43) found fine leg pulling, Row’s chances of
saving the game looked bleak. Cameos from MJ Keeler (24), then
Murray Divall (20) gave some entertainment. When it came down
to two balls left to keep out and two wickets remaining. Divall,
then Ward missed straight deliveries to hand Mayfield victory
on a silver platter.
