Forest Row sponsored by Douch Builders of Forest Row, opened
their season in empathic style.
Asked to bat first Richard Woodward and Graham Rowe put on a
brisk 52, before the latter was out top edging a pull shot for
14. Woody followed shortly for a fine 37. Phil Rowe went cheaply,
but Neil Phillips and Dave Webb steadied the ship, with another
50 partnership, before Neil Phillips was caught at backward point
for 19, this brought the hard hitting Glen Taylor to the crease
and in 11 overs they added 75 runs allowing row to make an early
declaration. Dave Webb ended on 69* and Glen Taylor 36*.
Forest Row’s bowling was opened up by Adam Webb and Debutant
Lee Smith, both bowled very tight lines and were unlucky on several
occasions. Adam Webb produced an excellent Yorker to remove Savage.
Rows 1st change bowlers Sam Jones and Mike Gaunt came on and the
latter bowled well without any luck. Row finally turned to their
wily veterans Phil Rowe and Richard Woodward, and in 12 overs
reduced St Andrews from 35 for 1 to 70 all out. Richard Woodward
3 for 3 and Phil Rowe 6 for 19.
